How Can You Use This Data to Help Market Solar Power for Your Business?

Those who are already aware of the benefits of solar power might not be surprised by the latest news coming out of Washington D.C., but the proof of solar and wind power’s impact on the country’s carbon dioxide emissions is finally being recognized by the U.S. government.

In 2017, the amount of energy-related carbon dioxide emissions dropped by nearly one percent, and it is due solely to the country’s shift from coal-generated electricity to cleaner and more efficient resources like solar, wind, and natural gas.

The U.S. Energy Department said that last year’s stats serve as the seventh time out of the last ten years that power producers reduced their carbon dioxide emissions.

How Much Carbon Dioxide Was Prevented From Being Produced?

When one hears the amount “one-percent,” it doesn’t sound like that much. But, when it comes to carbon dioxide emissions, that one-percent accounted for 47 million metric tons! So, thanks to solar, wind, and natural gas, energy producers were able to prevent 47 million metric tons of carbon dioxide from being produced. This is despite the fact that the country’s economy grew by 2.3 percent in 2017.

Wind and Solar Accounted for 22 Percent of Non-Carbon Electricity in 2017

In 2017, wind and solar accounted for 22 percent of all non-carbon electricity generated. Combined, they surpassed hydropower as the leading source of renewable power generation. Hydropower has long been the primary source for non-carbon electricity in the country.

In fact, in 1997, 34 percent of all non-carbon electricity was generated by it. In 2017, however, dependence on hydropower dropped to 20 percent as the popularity of solar and wind continued to grow.

How to Use This Information in Your Solar Company’s Marketing

This information is powerful proof that solar energy works. It can reduce carbon emissions and eventually help the planet heal from the damage caused by decades of those emissions being launched into the air. This is a strong message that your clients will find attractive, especially those who are considering solar primarily for its environmental benefits.

What’s crucial about this information is that it isn’t coming solely from your company’s marketing team. It is backed by the U.S. Department of Energy, so there is a lot of weight to it. Incorporating the facts, and what it means for the planet, will be a compelling piece of evidence that your clients won’t be able to deny. And, this will help make it easier for them to make the decision to go solar.
