Educate Your Potential Solar Customers Into Conversion

According to a 2015 story on Public Radio International, many terrible things could (and most likely will) happen if we do nothing to curtail the current global warming trend—and sadly, the news hasn’t gotten any better since 2015.

In fact (thanks in no small part to the current administration), the need is now greater than ever for private citizens to contribute everything they can to reduce our overall carbon footprint as a society, if we’re to turn back the disastrous effects of climate change.

The good news is that we can all contribute to reversing fossil fuel consumption that is driving climate change. One way we can do so is by converting our energy consumption to renewable energy—namely, solar. And as an extra bonus for doing the right thing by the planet, we stand to reap some significant health benefits, as well.

If your solar prospects are having some trouble coming around to solar power, here’s what you need to know to convince them it’s a great idea.

The Staggering Environmental and Public Health Benefits of Converting to Solar

According to the Solar Energy Technologies Office of the US Department of Energy, if the U.S. were to achieve the modest goals of 14% of electricity demand from solar by 2030 and 27% by 2050, we could see a host of environmental and public health benefits, including:

  • A reduction in water consumption across thirty-six states by enough to supply roughly 1.3 million U.S. households with their fresh water needs.
  • A reduction of our carbon footprint that would mitigate climate change damages by as much as $259 billion.
  • The prevention of $167 billion in health and environmental damages from pollution associated with burning fossil fuels to produce electricity.
  • The prevention of unnecessary healthcare costs and the saving of more than 25,000 lives.

The Surprising Personal Health Benefits of Converting to Solar

Whether your potential customers realize it or not, heating their homes (and water) with fossil fuels like heating oil and natural gas, can have serious adverse effects on their health and the health of their neighbors. This is because the combustion of natural gas and heating oil produces a host of toxic chemicals, such as sulfur dioxide, nitrous oxides, and even particulate matter. These byproducts have been linked to many respiratory problems.

You can assure your potential customers that converting to solar doesn’t just help with general public health, but it can also have a positive impact on their own personal wellness, and the wellness of those around them, too.

Convincing Your Potential Customers to Do the Right Thing for Themselves and the Planet

Converting to solar isn’t just what’s best for the climate, or what’s best for the planet – it’s in your potential customer’s own best interests, as well. Convincing them of that, in addition to the monetary savings of reducing or eliminating their energy bills (not to mention the incentives you can offer them in terms of tax credits and rebates), will ultimately make as solid a case for solar power as you can.

In a phrase, you have to educate them on solar power to convert them to solar power.
