Solar Is on the Rise: Is Your Solar Power Business Prepared?

According to the Administrator of the United States Energy Information Administration, renewable energy production is currently outpacing the amount of electricity coming from hydroelectric sources in the U.S. And further, solar now accounts for a substantial percentage of the renewables contributing to these numbers.

This is encouraging news for solar installers. It finally seems that the public is beginning to realize that in addition to offering advantages for our children’s children, renewables have become an excellent value proposition, often paying for themselves in a relatively short amount of time, all while offering substantial long-term savings.

It’s not just private homeowners who are making the switch to solar, either; many businesses are getting on board as well, citing long-term savings and improved public relations as two compelling reasons for making the switch to renewable sources of electric power.

With solar market growing as rapidly as it is, those in the solar industry are poised to benefit the environment in a big way, and make a tidy profit in the process. But in order to do that, they’ll have to be positioned to take advantage of this growing opportunity. So what about you – is your solar business prepared?

Acquiring Leads for Your Solar Business

Anyone who reads the industry reports knows that solar is booming, but if your solar business is struggling to find viable prospects, then you may be having a tough time reconciling the industry numbers with what’s on your business’s balance sheet.

Chances are good you probably already have a lead generation strategy in place. Perhaps you’re networking via social media, advertising via paid search results, or forging strategic partnerships with other complementary businesses.

If your solar lead generation pipeline isn’t delivering the goods, then you may want to consider purchasing solar leads from a reputable lead generation partner. After all, it should come as no surprise that investing in qualified leads is one of the best ways to fill your lead generation funnel full of prospects.

Can Your Business Deliver the Solar Goods?

This might seem counterintuitive, but there is such a thing as growing too fast. If your solar business invests in solar leads, you’ll want to be sure it has the capacity to keep up with the increase in demand. It’s always a good idea to verify the financial health and production bandwidth of your suppliers, just to make sure you won’t end up having to deal with supply chain disruption. Cultivating relationships with multiple suppliers can give your business the flexibility to source needed parts on the fly.

That way, if one source dries up, there’s always another. It’s also a smart move to have a backup plan for extra laborers, should your solar business’s installation schedule outpace your installers’ ability to keep up.
