Is Your Solar Business Ready for Large-Scale Projects?

The scientific community has long been expressing concern about humanity’s impact on the climate, but it’s taken a bit longer for the public at large to jump on the bandwagon. These days, there’s little doubt that climate change is real, and that we must take decisive action to mitigate its effects, and to avoid the dire predictions currently circulating among environmental experts.

Today’s concerned citizens are eager to do their part to help stem the tide of climate change, and they’re putting pressure on the business community to clean up their collective act. One business sector that seems to be taking note of the public’s demand for greener business practices is major-league sports.

Recent Solar Energy Developments With Pro Sports Teams

The San Francisco 49ers’ new home stadium features a native plant garden, bicycle parking, and solar panels. The Los Angeles Kings’ home turf, Staples Center, boasts a solar system capable of supplying 20% of its substantial power needs on off-days. The Seattle Seahawks’ solar system at Centurylink Field meets 30% of their energy needs.

The story is the same in the eastern half of the country, as well. The New England Patriots, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the New York Jets have all gone solar, as have many of their counterparts in Major League Baseball, and the NBA.

Even NASCAR is showing signs of going green. Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania, has a solar farm spanning nearly 25 acres. It supplies all the power needed by the raceway, and then some. It also supplies electricity to more than 1,000 local homes.

What Professional Sports Going Solar Actually Means

If only one team or sports organization went solar, it might be considered a fluke, but the exploding popularity of solar energy adoption in the sporting world is an undeniable trend that will undoubtedly continue.

For one thing, businesses like sporting franchises that naturally rely on fan support for their success, have to consider going green, as it just makes sense. Major league sports teams know that their supporters are concerned about the environment, and they want to show that they’re doing their part to reduce their environmental impact.

Of course, going solar isn’t just a PR move; it’s also an excellent long-term investment. While the solar panels of yesteryear offered a dubious ROI, today’s solar systems produce more electricity, cost less, and they more than pay for themselves over the long haul.

Sports teams aren’t the only large businesses that are eager to take advantage of environmentally friendly energy solutions. Plenty of other large companies are getting in on the action.

So what does that mean for your solar installation business? If you’re up for the challenge, then lucrative, large-scale projects could be on the horizon.
